31-day writing challenge Day 6
Hey y`all! I haven`t posted in a while. I have been busy with life as we all have at some point. Today`s topic is your favorite place (to be). Since I`ve already shared my favorite place, I want to share my favorite city.
So, I am definitely ambivalent about choosing New York or London as my favorite city. The difference being, New York is a place I`ve visited once and London a place I used to visit every year for around 10 years since my sister lived there. I would have chosen Los Angeles, but I wanted to talk about a city I`ve been to. But let`s talk about both then!
I travelled to New York in 2018 to explore the city with my sister. I`ve always been a fan of New York ever since I was a young girl. What I love about the city is first of all the immensity. Tall buildings everywhere, millions of people from all over the world, food from all over the world. So many choices! There is so much to do and you never get bored. I only stayed there for a week, but I definitely want to go back someday- or even move there (if it wasn`t so damn expensive).
Before going to university, I actually looked into Juilliard because it was a bit closer to home than Los Angeles and I wanted to become an actress. But again- too expensive and also so hard to get into. New York is a great city for a creative person. I also like Pentagram and would be interested in maybe working there someday.
For some weird reason, I have a strange obsession with the 9/11 tragedy. It is so heartbreaking and I`ve watched all the movies, documentaries and series I can about it. I think it might be because it is so well documented and you can hear so much about different people`s stories. And I am a big fan of stories- especically real stories.
Okay, so London.
The first time I travelled to London was with my dad and little brother to visit my sister for her graduation in 2010. And I travelled back every year until about 2018 because my sister moved away. However, I finally went back to London last year to do something I`ve always wanted to do: Christmas markets. Believe me, when I say I visited all the christmas markets I could while I stayed there. We have christmas markets in Norway as well, but not as cool ones as in London. I just love all the decorations, food and atmosphere about it. The only thing that was missing what some snow.
I also love London because it sometimes feels like a second home to me. I`m rather familiar with the city now and I`m comfortable using the tube and getting around on my own. This is also a city I could consider moving to. The thing I love the most about it is the feeling of being there, because like New York, it has a lot of opportunities and there is so much stuff to do. London also has my favorite museum: National history museum. I absolutely LOVE dinosaurs and I`m very interested about the world, universe and homosapiens and how we used to live before.
There`s also some unique stuff I tried in London which makes it my favorite. I did my first eyebrow wax and manicure there, but I also tried lollipop making and Ballie Ballerson which is a bar where they have a pit filled with plastic balls in different colors while serving retro cocktails. Stuff like that is what makes me happy and I need to try out more things like it.
